Would you like your child(ren) to learn about all of the amazing things our waters have to offer? SDOF’s mobile marine science program brings interactive lectures, hands-on activities and live animal labs to San Diego County schools and afterschool programs all year long! If you know of a classroom (or group of students) that could benefit from a little science and conservation, let us know! We’ve got three topics to choose from, serve all grades (K-12), and would love to have our experienced educators come in and help inspire your students!

9,910 White Seabass Released Into San Diego Bay!
On Thursday, November 19th, SDOF and a handful of our best White Seabass Mentors successfully released 9,910 healthy white seabass into San Diego Bay! After about three months in captivity, these fish were set free by their loving caretakers to roam the open ocean and eventually reproduce in the wild (helping to guarantee the survival of their species).
A special ‘thank you’ goes out to our dedicated volunteers who showed up to scoop and painstakingly count thousands of juvenile white seabass…and in only two hours! We would also like to thank those of you who have taken such good care of these fingerlings since day one. Your efforts made all of this possible and are always greatly appreciated!
We are now looking forward to February/March of 2010, when we plan on welcoming our next batch of fish. Contact volunteer@sdoceans.org if you’d like to have a hand in raising them!

Simple Ways To Support SDOF
Marine Specimens for our Ocean In Motion Marine Science Education Program
As we kick off our school program again this year, we’ll be looking for even more ways to get local students excited about marine science! If you happen to have any sort of specimens (e.g. shark skin & egg casings, crustacean molts, preserved fish/invertebrates, baleen, bones), we’d love to incorporate them into our program.
